Born to surf myself

This work began with a performative act: I took the sculptural device created from a 3D scan of my own body down to Bondi Beach and used it to move through the surf. The photographs taken of this intervention became both documentation and raw material. Later, I transferred these images onto a wooden board, using them as a substrate upon which to draw and paint. The painting emerged from a layered process: part experience, part mechanical reproduction, part hand-rendered re-interpretation.
